The Covenant

The Lord uses covenants to remind us of His love for us and invite us into His family.

Being invited into covenant was a significant event of invitation and protection. The disciples accepted this invitation from Jesus.

Today, nothing has changed, but commitments like this are rare. Establishing a covenant within the group is highly recommended. It is beneficial for you to remember your commitment to those you have invited in and may need to remind them of their commitment to being in the group—especially when treading through D2 (see Phases).

We move and breathe in a bilateral covenant utilizing Jesus' own words out of Matthew 4:19, "Come and follow me, and I will make you a fisher of men."

As you can see, there are 2 parts. The decision to follow (made by the disciples) and a decision to "make fishers of men" (made by you). As long as they agree to follow, you agree to aid them in their growth process. It is a decision that should not be taken lightly by either side.
